High Standards: Why Quest Climate Dehumidifiers Are Essential for Quality Indoor Grow Operations
Coleman Retzlaff is Quest Climate’s National Director of Sales for Indoor Agriculture. With nearly two decades of experience in technical, operational, and sales roles, Coleman has been instrumental in shaping Quest’s reputation as a leader in dehumidification. His blend of technical expertise and customer-focused philosophy has helped Quest transform from an emerging brand to an industry benchmark.
“Resin-ating” with Cannabis Cultivators
Coleman began his career with Quest’s parent company, Therma-Stor, in 2006, where he worked as a technical advisor before transitioning to quality management and service roles. His ability to adapt quickly became a hallmark of his career. When he joined Quest Climate nine years ago, the company was still exploring its identity.
“When I joined Quest, we were experimenting with the application of our technology in various industries, trying to find where we could provide the most value. It wasn’t until we turned our focus to agriculture that things really came together.”
That shift led Coleman to his first agricultural trade show—a moment he remembers vividly. “A young grower came up to me, excited, and said, ‘Quest — you guys are awesome!’ I thought, ‘This guy is thrilled about a dehumidifier?’ It was then I realized how deeply Quest resonated with the cannabis industry.”
Pioneering the Future of Cultivation
Quest is not only meeting today’s demands, but also positioning itself as a leader in the future of indoor agriculture. Recent advancements include the adoption of EPA-compliant refrigerants and the integration of digital interfaces that simplify operation and troubleshooting.
“Our technology allows us to pull more water per kilowatt-hour than anyone else,” Coleman says. “And our new digital controls make it easier for customers to monitor and maintain their equipment. It’s about combining cutting-edge performance with ease of use.”
Coleman also sees an opportunity for Quest to influence sustainable building practices in agriculture. While certifications like LEED haven’t yet fully adapted to cultivation facilities, Quest is ahead of the curve, ensuring its products align with broader environmental goals.
“We’re early adopters,” Coleman says. “When the industry catches up, we’ll already be there.”
Guiding Customers to Success
Unlike many companies, Quest takes a collaborative approach to sales. Coleman and his team act as partners to their customers, helping them select the right equipment and optimizing its use for their specific needs.
“We’re not here to sell you more equipment than you need,” Coleman emphasizes. “We’re here to make sure your operation thrives. When our customers succeed, we succeed.”
This approach is especially critical in agriculture, where environmental control can make or break a harvest. Beyond preventing issues like bud rot, Quest’s technology allows growers to fine-tune conditions—improving yield, flavor, and quality.
“It’s not just about removing water,” Coleman explains. “It’s about creating the perfect environment for plants to thrive. With proper humidity control, growers can enhance oil production, terpene profiles, and even the color of their plants.”
